1. Will the Cali Raised skids work with the TRD skid plate?
Yes and No. The transfer case, LCA, shock skid, and fuel tank skid will work with the TRD pro skid. The front and transmission skids will not.
2. Does the transfer case skid protect the catalytic converter from theft?

Not a guarantee, but it will make it more difficult for thieves to fit cutting tools in that area. But these were not designed for theft prevention. The transmission skid covers 50% of the catalytic converter.

3. Are they bolt-on, or do they require modification?

Yes, they are 100% bolt-on. You will have to remove some factory items, but they use all existing bolt holes. You can go back to stock at any time.

4. What types of material are the skid plates made from?

The front, transmission, transfer case and fuel skids are all made from either 3/16” thick steel, or 1/4” 5052 aluminum. 100% MADE IN USA, Fort Worth, Texas.

5. For the fuel tank skid, will I need TRD Off-Road fuel tank straps?

Yes, you will. They are designed to use the 4 factory bolts that come with the TRD Off-Road straps. The factory plastic gas tank is susceptible to gouging and slicing. That is what the skid plate protects. However, the tank is also a very thick plastic as is very strong and with the skid plate attached, it can handle a lot of weight.

Great product

I already had Cali Raised sliders which I bought second hand which were missing some bolts. I contacted CR support and told my situation. They were kind enough to supply the missing bolts and only pay for the shipping. After that positive impression along with loving the sliders, I ordered the raw aluminum front skid and the raw steel transfer skid for my 2010 Tacoma OR. Very next day got to put them both to the test on the trail. They held up real well and feel well engineered. Love the look of the raw aluminum and strength of the steel.

Cali Raised Front Skid Plate

Customer service, shipping, quality control, all top notch! I only have one complaint and gave a 4-star rating because I had to modify the rear mounting holes to fit. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get them to line up. I used a die grinder with a burr attachment to sort of “slot” the hole a bit. Not a huge deal, just would’ve been a super easy install if I hadn’t had to do that. I’m completely satisfied otherwise though. I love the look of the plate and the fact that I no longer have to remove it entirely to change the oil. The price wasn’t bad either compared to other skid plates in its class. Nice job, Cali Raised!

Awesome Skid Plate

I purchased the Aluminum powder coated skid plate for my son's Tacoma. Very well made product. The installation was pretty intuitive but the instructions are a bit lacking. No big deal because it can be figured out.

Very high quality product. I purchased the aluminum, powder, coated, front skid plate for my sons 2023 Tacoma. Installation wias fairly intuitive. But the instructions could’ve been a little clearer. I’d recommend using jack stands or some other type of lift to raise the front of the truck. Also, you’ll have to remove the front air dam to access the front 12 mm bolts holding the OEM skid plate

Want to like it more, but…

I was very happy with the cat covers I got from Cali Raised.
And, I would like to rate it higher, but the cut outs are sloppy and the hole for the oil drain is too small, took an oil bath when I changed my oil.
I will be enlarging the drain hole.
The plate for the oil filter access leaves plenty of room. Kudos on that one.

Bulletproof!! The aluminum front skid plate can handle big rocks, tree stumps, just about anything I can run over and it a lot cheaper than anything under the front of my Tacoma that I would tear up without it.

The stock Taco skid plate

The stock Taco skid plate is not an inspiring piece of hardware. This is. Fits great, looks great, and will actually provide protection if you should need it. Takes 2 or you and your floor jack to install. It's heavy, but otherwise easy to install. 2 thumbs up on this product!

Massive Upgrade Over Stock

After a rock on a local mountain 2-lane mangled the stock front spray cover, I decided not to risk my oil pan anymore and replace it with a steel front skid. Most of my "install" time was spent removing an old spray cover bolt snapped off by the rock, as well as several old bolts that had seized. I also took the time to tap and clear the threads for the mounting bolts. After that, following Cali's instructions had the new plate installed in 30-minutes, solo, using just a floor jack, and without raising the truck. Rather to my surprise, everything fit absolutely perfectly on the very first try!

Considering that about 10lbs of parts come off before the install, the steel version adds maybe another 40lbs. on the front suspension. That said, the steel is probably overkill unless you're rock-crawling, so the aluminum option might have been a better choice. And I'll probably do the rest in aluminum. Regardless, an overall excellent product, easily 5-stars. Just wish I'd installed one before taking out the old spray cover.

Front Skid (Aluminum Raw) 2023 Tacoma Trail Edition

Looks great, fits great. HUGE upgrade from both stick black skid and TRD skid. I wanted to get the transmission case as well but it requires permanent removal of the cross braces above the catalytic converters, and I can’t find any info on whether or not removing these will affect anything (frame flex, etc.) Ordered the car protectors 4 weeks ago and still haven’t seen them. Hoping those fit just as well.
