Holcomb Valley

Holcomb Valley Road

Holcomb Valley Road is a 26 mile long overland trail that takes you through the backwoods of San Bernardino National Forest. The road is rated as easy and is the main connector between most of the trails in Big Bear including: Holcomb Creek, Dishpan Springs, John Bull, White Mountain, Gold Mountain and more. There are several water crossings along this trail that can swell up in flash flood conditions so plan accordingly.

Joining us this month to tell us about their trip to Naches Trail, @randyschmidt took his Tacoma through to this trail and shared their story with us.

How'd You Get Into Overlanding?

Surfing is really the main reason I got into off-roading. I wanted to have a rig that was capable of getting me to some of the most remote surf spots both safely and comfortably.

Favorite Cali Raised LED Product

Most of the time when I go camping, I am rolling into camp in total darkness. I usually flip on the Low Profile LED Ditch Lights and my 32" Lower Bumper Hidden LED Light Bar when I need to see what is in front of me and on my side. It's nice knowing Cali Raised LED lights got my back and I can see everything around me!

Favorite Trip?

This last Winter I went on a surf trip south of the border. The drive was extremely long and the roads were terrible due to a recent rainfall. It was all fun and games blasting through massive puddles until my buddy I was in a caravan with broke down, half submerged in a puddle the size of a small lake. His car wouldn't start and I ended up towing him the remaining 15 miles to camp through the night. Cali Raised LED lights led the way!

Do you have any big trips coming up soon?

I am currently planning a surfing and dirt biking trip up into Canada at the end of the summer. Going to try and find waves and some epic trails around Vancouver Island!

Until next time! At Cali Raised LED, we not only want to encourage riders to try something new, (with all the proper precautions of course!) but also to not be too shy when it comes to checking out trails that they may not have thought possible. It's in our very slogan, "Rise Up and Seek Adventure." We really mean it.

Thank you for sharing your story with us.

If you haven't figured it out yet, we've been featuring a trail or national park or other must see location each month of the year, and sometimes we are lucky enough to find other off-roaders who have been there. They are kind enough to share their experience and their expertise. Want to be featured? Have a trail you think we should feature? Submit your photos and story to partners@caliraisedled.com to be considered!

What Trails do you think we should feature next? Tell us in the comments below!**

  • It’s always good to see a 2.5 Gen around. Sadly a semi-neglected 4 years, but luckily shares many options with the full 2nd Gen.
