How to Pick the Right OEM-Style Switch

Cali Raised OEM-style switches fill the blank switch openings already in your dash, so added lighting and accessories are controlled from a switch that looks like it came with the vehicle. There are three body styles - Small, Tall and Square - and which one you need is decided by your vehicle and year, not by preference.

Match the style to your factory opening

  • Tall Style - Tacoma 2005-2023, 4Runner 2003-2009, Tundra 2007-2013, FJ Cruiser 2007-2014
  • Small Style - Tacoma 2005-2023, 4Runner 2010-2024, Tundra 2014-2021, RAV4 2008-2012, Sequoia 2008-2021
  • Square Style - Tacoma 2024+, 4Runner 2025+, Tundra 2022+, RAV4 2019+, Sequoia 2022+, Land Cruiser 300 Series 2022+

Check the shape of the blank openings in your own dash before ordering. A Tall switch will not seat correctly in a Small opening.

Wiring: four wires, or five

Small and Tall switches use a four-wire connector: power in from your source with an inline fuse, a lead to your relay to run the accessory, a lead to the dash light circuit so the symbol dims with the rest of your dash, and a ground for the symbol backlight. Square switches use the same idea across five wires, with a separate backlight-on ground.

What you need to finish the install

You will need a relay for whatever accessory the switch controls and an inline fuse on the power feed. Our Perma-Seal connector is sold separately and turns the switch wiring into a clean sealed connection instead of a splice, which is what makes this a job most owners can do themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Cali Raised switch style fits my vehicle?
It depends on the shape of the blank switch opening in your dash. Tacoma: Tall or Small for 2005-2023, Square for 2024+. 4Runner: Tall for 2003-2009, Small for 2010-2024, Square for 2025+. Tundra: Tall for 2007-2013, Small for 2014-2021, Square for 2022+. RAV4: Small for 2008-2012, Square for 2019+. Sequoia: Small for 2008-2021, Square for 2022+. FJ Cruiser: Tall for 2007-2014. Land Cruiser 300 Series: Square for 2022+. Look at the switch openings in your vehicle and confirm the shape before ordering.
What is the difference between Small, Tall and Square switches?
They are the same switch in three different body shapes, each made to fill a different factory blank opening. The style you need is set by your vehicle and year, not by preference - a Tall switch will not sit correctly in a Small opening. Wiring also differs slightly: Small and Tall switches use a four-wire connector, Square switches use five.
Do these replace the blank switches in my dash?
Yes. They are built to match your factory switch openings so they sit flush and read as OEM rather than an aftermarket add-on. You are filling an existing blank, not cutting new holes.
How many wires does an OEM-style switch have, and what does each one do?
Small and Tall switches use four wires: GREEN connects from your power source with an inline fuse, RED 1 connects to your relay to run the accessory, RED 2 connects to the dash light circuit so the symbol lights up with your dash lights, and BLACK is the symbol backlight LED ground. Square switches use five: YELLOW to the dash light circuit, RED from your power source with an inline fuse, WHITE for backlight LED on ground, GREEN to your relay to run the accessory, and BLACK for symbol backlight ground.
Do I need the Perma-Seal connector?
It is sold separately and it is not required, but it is what makes the install straightforward. Paired with the Perma-Seal connector the switch wiring becomes a clean, sealed connection rather than a splice job, which is why most owners can fit these safely regardless of their 12V wiring experience.
Will the switch backlight match my factory dash lights?
Yes, when wired as intended. The symbol backlight runs off your dash light circuit - RED 2 on Small and Tall switches, YELLOW on Square switches - so the switch dims and lights with the rest of your dash instead of glowing on its own.
Can I install these myself?
Most owners can. The switch drops into an existing factory opening, and the wiring is four or five clearly labelled wires with a defined job each. You will need a relay for whatever accessory you are running and an inline fuse on the power feed. Our installation resources cover the wiring in detail if you want to read through it before you order.
