Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Complete Skid Plate Collection include?

It includes the Front, Cat Shield & Transmission, Transfer Case, Lower Control Arm and Fuel Tank skid plates for the 2024+ Toyota Tacoma. The rear shock skid plate is sold separately.

Does this collection fit my 2024+ Toyota Tacoma?

Yes. This collection is designed specifically for 2024+ Toyota Tacoma models. 4WD models only. Select Hybrid or Non-Hybrid when ordering. The included Cat Shield & Transmission Skid Plate does not fit with the OEM TRD skid plate.

Does installing the full collection require drilling or cutting?

No. The entire collection is bolt-on with no drilling or cutting required.

What is the skid plate collection made of?

The kit is available in 3/16-inch steel or 1/4-inch 5052 aircraft-grade aluminum, chosen at checkout, with a black powder coat finish. The lower control arm skids are always powder-coated 3/16-inch steel. The transfer case skid follows your steel or aluminum selection and has no separate crossbar.

How thick is the steel?

The skid plates are made from 3/16" steel, which provides a strong balance between protection and weight.

How long does it take to install the full collection?

Installation of the full collection typically takes 2 to 4 hours with basic hand tools.

Does the collection include a cat shield for catalytic converter protection?

Yes. The 2024+ Tacoma collection includes the Cat Shield & Transmission Skid Plate, which protects the catalytic converters and transmission from rock damage and helps deter theft. It does not fit with the OEM TRD skid plate.

Are the skid plates compatible with aftermarket suspension lifts?

Yes. The skid plates are compatible with most aftermarket suspension lift kits. Fitment with custom or extreme builds should be verified.

Where are these skid plates made?

These skid plates are fabricated in-house in Fort Worth, Texas.

Does the aluminum skid set fit trucks with TRD recovery mounts?

The steel set bolts on, but the aluminum front skid needs modification to fit TRD recovery mounts. If your Tacoma has TRD recovery mounts, plan for that or choose steel.

Do I need to remove the factory fuel tank skid plate?

Yes. The factory fuel tank skid plate has to be removed before the fuel tank skid plate in this collection goes on.

Now that it's all on, I can say that I'm super happy with this product. There were hiccups along the way, because Toyota seems to make each trim level a little differently. For instance, my truck had a factory gas tank skid that wound up needing to be removed (and the welded bolts cut off). On top of that, the installation videos are for the steel skid plates, and it seem the aluminum plates have a few differences. So that was frustrating, especially when installing over multiple weekends, getting stuck, and needing to wait until Monday to get help from CaliRaised. But in the end, I can say their support is really good. Steven walked me through a lot, and the engineers even got involved to confirm what would and would not work.

Sure enough, I crunched down on the skid plates this past weekend on the trail and was well protected, so thank you CaliRaised!

Jay, thanks for the detailed review and for sticking with the install through the fitment differences. We’re glad Steven and our engineering team were able to help get everything sorted, and even better to hear the Complete Skid Plate Collection already did its job protecting your Tacoma on the trail. We appreciate the feedback on the aluminum install instructions too.

Videos make it easy to install. It just sucks doing it with out truck in the air. Otherwise it looks good and just fallow videos for each piece. Goes on just like the videos show you.

Thank you for the review. We’re glad to hear the install videos made the Complete Skid Plate Collection easier to follow and that everything went on as shown. We know installs can be tougher without the truck in the air, so we appreciate you sharing that feedback. Glad to hear it looks good on your Tacoma, and thank you for choosing Cali Raised LED.
