Where to Start on a Toyota Tundra Build

Tundra owners tend to build for one of two jobs, and the first parts differ.

Work Truck or Daily Driver

Start with the bed. A bed MOLLE system and a bed rack keep tools, straps and recovery gear organized and off the floor. On the 2022 and newer truck, add a catalytic converter shield if you park in the city (our 2022 and newer Tundra cat shield guide explains the options), then lighting.

Overland Build

Start with rock sliders, because rocker panels are the most expensive common trail repair. Then add a bed rack for a rooftop tent, which keeps the cab roof clear, and finish with a roof rack and lighting.

Rock Sliders and Front Bumper

Frame-mounted sliders carry the weight of the truck on rock and double as a step. Our 2nd Gen sliders fit 2014-2021 in Step Edition and Trail Edition, and our 3rd Gen sliders fit the 2022 and newer CrewMax. Bed Racks

Which Toyota Tundra generation do I have?
The 2nd gen Tundra is 2007-2021 and the 3rd gen is 2022 and newer. Your model year is on the driver door jamb sticker and in the VIN.
Will 2nd gen Tundra parts fit a 2022 Tundra?
No. The 2022 and newer Tundra is built on a new platform with different mounting points, so 2nd gen rock sliders, racks and bed hardware do not carry over. Shop the 2022 and newer Tundra collection for parts designed for it.
Do 2007-2013 and 2014-2021 Tundras take the same parts?
Not always. The front end changed for 2014, so our rock sliders, bumper cover sets and several light kits fit 2014-2021 only. Check the year range on each product listing before you order.
Do Cali Raised Tundra roof racks fit every cab, and do they need drilling?
Our Premium and Economy roof racks for the 2014-2021 Tundra and our Premium roof rack for the 2022 and newer Tundra are made for the CrewMax cab, and they require drilling to install. Check the cab and install notes on each product before you order, or call us at 1-888-385-5036.
Should I use a bed rack or a roof rack for a rooftop tent on a Tundra?
A bed rack sets the tent lower and keeps the cab roof clear, at the cost of bed space. A roof rack keeps the bed free for gear but puts the tent higher. Either way, check the rack's dynamic and static weight ratings against your tent, gear and occupants.
Are Cali Raised Tundra parts made in-house?
Our rock sliders, bumper and racks are fabricated in-house in Fort Worth, Texas. Lighting and partner-brand products are designed and shipped from Fort Worth, Texas.
