1. Are they bolt-on, or do they require modification?
Yes, they are 100% Bolt-On. You will have to remove some factory items, but they use all existing bolt holes and we provide security hardware for extra protection.
2. What types of material are the skid plates made from?
12 Gauge 304 Brushed stainless steel. 100% MADE IN USA, Fort Worth, Texas.
3. Will The Catalytic Converter Theft Guard work with any aftermarket or factory skid plates?
They will not interfere with any offroad or factory skid plates. You will have to uninstall the aftermarket transmission skid plate and reinstall it after installing the Catalytic Convertor Theft Guard.
4. What Vehicles will the Catalytic Converter Theft Guard work with?
This is a really cool product. The cats on the 4Runner are naturally super easy to reach, and these make them much harder to access. Installation was straightforward and came with everything needed. They were a bit fiddly to install because you need to align several things while you hold several things, but it was all doable in about an hour. I’d say the price was exactly right. If you are on the fence, then just do it. Totally worth it.
I had a different brand cat shield, but got tired of dropping it to change the transmission fluid. The Caliraised fixed that problem. They are well built and are not in the way of transmission service.
As far as the shield itself, it is of good quality & not to hard to install. The only problem was that I was 2 washers short for the long bolts & they were to send additional security bolts which they did not.
