2024+ Lexus GX 550 Catalytic Converter Shield

Install the Cali Raised LED Catalytic Converter Shield (CR4451) on your 2024 or newer Lexus GX 550 using the instructions below. The kit helps deter catalytic converter theft with full-coverage 12-gauge 304 stainless shields on both sides, bolted to the factory mounting points.

Fitment and installation time

Fits 2024 and newer Lexus GX 550. One shield for each catalytic converter. Estimated installation time: 20–30 minutes. 100% bolt-on at the factory mounting locations; no drilling or welding. Keeps factory ground clearance. Works with Cali Raised and most aftermarket skid plates.

Included in the kit

• Driver-side shield and passenger-side shield (12-gauge 304 brushed stainless)
• Two brackets
• Two supplied security bolts
• Four button-head screws
• Twelve washers (ten used; two spares in case you need one as a spacer)
• Four lock nuts
• One included tamper-resistant Torx bit

Tools you supply

• Ratcheting wrench
• 14 mm socket and 14 mm box-end wrench (factory frame bolts)
• 1/2 in socket and 1/2 in box-end wrench (lock nuts on the bracket screws)
• 3/16 Allen wrench (button-head screws)
• A ratchet or driver that holds the included tamper-resistant Torx bit

Before you start

The install video is shot on a lift. Let the exhaust cool completely before you start. Park on level ground and support the vehicle on jack stands; never work under a vehicle held up only by a jack. Do not paint or coat the shield; catalytic converters run hot. The two factory frame bolts on each side are loosened, not removed; the bracket hangs on them.

Installation steps (passenger side shown in the video)

1. Clear the area. Under the passenger side, remove any plastic cowling or cover over this part of the frame. The GX in the video has none, so nothing comes off there.
2. Loosen the two frame bolts. Do not remove them. On the passenger side, loosen the two factory frame bolts with the 14 mm socket. The bracket's keyhole slots hang on their heads.
3. Attach the bracket loosely. Put a washer on two supplied button-head screws. Set a bracket under the flange on the passenger-side shield, push the screws through both, then add a second washer and a lock nut to each. Snug the nuts with the 1/2 in socket while the 3/16 Allen wrench holds the screw. Leave just enough play that the bracket can still move.
4. Hang it on the frame bolts. Lift the passenger-side shield into place and slip the bracket's two keyhole slots over the two loosened frame bolt heads.
5. Start the security bolt. Put a washer on a supplied security bolt. Thread it in by hand through whichever slot in the shield's logo tab lines up with the hole behind it; either slot works. Just get it started.
6. Tighten the frame bolts. Tighten both factory frame bolts through the bracket with the 14 mm box-end wrench or socket.
7. Tighten the security bolt. Put the included tamper-resistant Torx bit in your ratchet or driver and tighten until the shield sits tight and does not move. Do not over-tighten. If the hardware will not seat the way it should, stop and email support before you force it.
8. Final-tighten the bracket screws. Tighten both button-head screws with the 3/16 Allen wrench while the 1/2 in wrench holds the lock nut. It only takes a few turns.
9. Repeat on the driver side. Same order as steps 1–8, with the driver-side shield and the second bracket.

Check your work

• Both shields sit flat and tight.
• Both frame bolts on each side are tight.
• Both security bolts are seated and neither shield moves when you pull on it.
• All four bracket screws are tight.

Keep the included tamper-resistant Torx bit safe; it is what takes the shields back off.
