High quality, looks bad @$$

Overall these rock sliders are great! They are heavy duty and look much better than the steps that came on the truck when I purchased it. I'm going to list a few things we encountered during install.

I ordered the 2005-2023 Toyota Tacoma Trail Edition Rock Sliders - Kick Out // Bedliner // Double Cab Short Bed

1: The bedliner spray: the rails had a few spots that looked to be rubbed smooth or thinner than other areas. Most likely from the packaging (which came very well packed by the way). That's not too big of a deal. I mean, they are rock sliders so I expect them to not stay pristine. The other issue with the bedliner spray is that it made the bolt holes smaller, making it difficult to get some of the bolts through. So just know, you may struggle trying to get some bolts to fit through.
2: Installation instructions: it came with none. zero. So, we watched an install video on youtube by Cali Raised. The video made it seem very simple. Well, of course it's not as simple as shown and here what we encountered. First - lifting the rails up to the truck - they are heavy! My husband was laying under as I stood above holding it up while he struggled to get the first nut through to secure it to the frame. He had to use his knees and hip while I also held it. There was no mention of moving some of the items along the frame that needed to be out of the way so once the rail was secured, we discoverd a housing that held, I dont know what was behind the rail plate and it wasn't snug up against the frame. So instead of going through the struggle of removing the rail completely, we used a popper thing to release the plastic tab that held the housing in place. The plastic tab broke. No biggie. Next, the bold by the break lines is rubbing the break lines so we'll be figuring out a way to protect the break lines such as heavy duty foam and zip ties. After getting the driver side rail on, we moved to the passenger side. This is when we realized the kit was missing two 2 1/2" bolts! Luckily our local hardware store was still open so I rushed in to get them before they closed so we could finish the job. There was no way to know if any pieces were missing when unpacking because as I noted earlier, there were no instructions included.
3: Once we got the passenger side installed - which obviously went a little smoother since we learned from the first side, I noticed the kick out looked very close to the bottom of the back door and I was worried it wouldn't open. I tested the door and it barely cleared the rock rail. I'm not sure why if it's snug to the frame, that it would be at a higher angle than the driver's side but we'll be loosening some bolts to try and adjust the angel.
Note: I did go on the website to look for installation instructions which I was able to find, but they were different than the video we watched and I didn't want to confuse myself more so I stuck with the video. I'm not sure if we got the wrong bolt kit or if our's was just missing those 2 that we needed. We also ended up with a bag of smaller bolts they included that we didn't need to use.

I will also say that Cali Raised customer serivce is very helpful and responsive. The intall video could have been filmed a little better because there were portions where he explained but didnt show or they showed it so fast that we kept having to back up to see how certain parts were installed.

2023 Double cab long bed

Installed these last night, don’t watch the video, read the pdf. Pretty simple install once you get the positioned, floor jack was key. Also had to drill 3/8 to 1/2 on both sides on the mid pillar, would have been easier to do this prior to install. I would have liked two more 1/2 bolts, nut, washers with backer plates to drill the second vertical 3/8 to 1/2. Also, it would of been much easier if there was just a picture of the rail with numbered tightening sequence, that would of been super helpful.

All and all, looks great, super solid.

Quick shipping. Excellent communication. The finish is amazing. Welds are mid. Came with extra hardware. Recommand there products. Fit is perfect. Skimmed the online instructions for a few min, took about 45 min to install each side, thats with a few adult beverages.

Happy with them

Easy to install and the video had clear instructions. My one complaint is that the bolts on the drivers side make contact with the brake lines. I haven’t decided how I’m going to address that yet but if it’s ignored it will likely lead to chaffing of the lines.

Best installation experience that I can remember.

Very pleased. These sliders fit my 23 access cab tacoma perfectly. Pretty easy one-man installation and all holes lined up. The installation video was very good, but I did encounter a couple of minor issues. I would recommend including spare clips for the driver-side harness. I used the correct tool and still broke both of them. In the video he just cheeses them out with a screwdriver, so I expect most people will break these like I did. I haven’t figured out the part number to replace them yet. Also, the forward of the two clips cannot be reinserted because the slider covers the hole. The other notable issue is that in the video he silently deletes the covers for the front boxed frame section. The reason is obviously because of the design of the handle used to get the two nuts up into that section. If the handle were flat, it would be slightly less easy to use, but it would not block the reinstallation of the covers. I hammered mine flat and they still worked fine and I was able to reinstall the covers. I don’t think I spent more than 3 hours on this installation and I was working outside in the gravel.

Skip the Powder Coating

The product has been great, beyond the powder coating that came with the sliders. They fit perfectly, they function fantastically and they look like they belong. The Powder Coating that Cali Raised provided started rusting within 60 days of installing the product. When I wrote to Cali Raised, they told me it was rusting because of where it was and they sent me a spray can to cover it. You know your product is going to be used on that part of the truck, so for the money I paid for coating, why don't they use a coating that will last in those areas. I didn't go out rock crawling or even do much but highway driving in those 60 days, so I have to say... The powder coating is not made to stand up to being used. If it can't stand up to regular driving, it won't hold up to trail use. Get it coated somewhere else.

Good but tough

Sliders are great but the install instructions are a bit misleading. Clear instructions for installing the easy bolts but nothing for the hard to reach bolts. And “hand tighten” was not an option unless I was the Hulk. Nuts couldn’t be hand tightened enough to even get the nuts completely on the bolt.

Looks good, feels solid.

Really makes the truck look good and balances out the lines, and its nice knowing I have the extra protection on the trail. Install was pretty quick and smooth. Would of given 5 stars but the attaching plates came raw and not powder coated. Took a while for them to ship but was worth the wait and they were delivered with no damage.

Trail Edition

Love the way these look on my vehicle. Installing was pretty easy. A helping hand for lifting them up to the truck frame will save you a lot of trouble.

While I didn't do the install myself (good to know your limits), these look awesome on my Taco.

Good service and communication on

Good service and communication on the manufacturing and delivery process. These are "made to order" so from the time you make the order/purchase, this sets in motion a build from scratch, if you will which includes powder coat or Berliner application and curing. Then you have delivery logistics. This is all explained with reminders sent after purchase to let you know it could take up to (four weeks if I remember correctly) with me being in NY. No issues - as described.

Excellent products.

The rock sliders I got have been awesome and have proven themself worthy easily. They are rugged, but very low profile and keep the truck looking classy. I also am a big fan of the fuel skid that I got. It is a major improvement from the facotry plastic one. I picked up locally and was greeted with a super friendly and helpful staff who made the experience very satisfying. If I need other parts, CaliRaised will be the first place I look.
