Choosing an awning
The degree rating describes how far the awning wraps around the vehicle. A 180 covers one side. A 270 carries on around the corner to shade the side and the rear, which is what most people want when the tailgate is the kitchen. OVS build both with waterproofing intended for rain and moisture.
Plan the rack before the tent
A roof top tent needs a load-bearing platform underneath it - a bed rack on a truck, or a roof rack with crossbars on an SUV - rated to carry the tent plus the people in it. Sort the rack first and the tent choice gets much simpler. Oversized items such as tents, caps and awnings ship by freight rather than standard parcel.
